Music is part of the Creative Arts Faculty and offers all students a vibrant and exciting relevant curriculum and we also offer an outstanding range of extra curricular activities. We are also a Musical Futures Champion School.

Students are assessed regularly and students are challenged through authentic practical musical experiences. Students review and reflect on their learning regularly to enable them to achieve targets set.
In Key Stage 4 pupils opt to take Music and follow the AQA syllabus.

Year 7: The Elements of Music taught through the Musical Futures strategy.

Year 8: Popular and World music themes taught through the Musical Futures strategy. Students also learn performance, composing and aural skills.

Year 9: Students opt to take music in Year 9 and we develop their musicianship skills through a range of popular themed projects delivered through the Musical Futures strategy. Students further develop their compositional, aural and improvisational skills.

All students are motivated and engaged by music they value and that is relevant to them. They learn to play an exciting range of instruments in our superbly equipped faculty. These include: keyboards, singing, ukulele’s, guitars, drum kit and classroom percussion. We also have superb music technology facilities and students learn to sequence music using Cubase.

There are some outstanding extra curricular activities for students to get involved in. These include; Choir, Boys Choir, Rock School, Wind Band, Ukulele Orchestra, Fiddle and Flutes and Vocal Group. There are also regular concerts to showcase our students superb talents including our annual faculty talent show The K Factor and our summer celebration of the arts ‘The King’s Fest’.
