We are one of eight schools within the local, distinctive and inclusive academy schools known as the Pontefract Academies Trust. The King’s School is a happy and successful 11-16 school where all students are valued, regardless of their background or ability. We are very proud of our school and in June 2017 The King’s School was judged as a ‘good’ school. This site should give you a flavour of what a wonderful place The King’s School is.

Our distinctive ethos combines high expectations and high standards in all aspects of school life with a strong sense of kindness, inclusivity and enjoyment. We deliver a traditional curriculum and provide an extensive extra-curricular programme. Our primary focus is to instil a lifelong love of learning, and to encourage all students to be confident, hard-working and ambitious. We want every student to leave The King’s School able to live a life full of opportunity and choice.

Our ethos is summarised by the words ‘Success for All’ and we take great pride in the high standards achieved by our students. They leave us as happy, well-qualified, confident and well-motivated young adults who go on to excel in local sixth-forms, colleges, universities and the wider world.

We are always delighted to meet parents or members of the community, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to visit.

Head of School
